Recently, Theodosia, MO, Post Office Retail Associate Sonya Masterson experienced an unforgettable treat while vacationing at the Grand Canyon. Masterson and her husband cherished the scenic views of the Grand Canyon, and had the pleasure of a majestic experience of riding a mule from the top rim of the canyon to the Colorado River before arriving at their Phantom Ranch destination. While the journey itself was enjoyable, what she carried to her destination was an inspiring experience.

Phantom Ranch is nestled at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and only accessible by mule, foot, or rafting the Colorado River. To her surprise and delight, Masterson and her mule Shelby were assigned the mail saddlebag to transport to the ranch.  The experience gave her a first-hand appreciation of how mail is transported from the Canyon to the Phantom Ranch daily.

The couple was thrilled with their vacation, but it was most gratifying to Masterson because she was able to enjoy a memorable vacation experience and deliver mail to postal customers 1,291 miles away from her home.
