Mountain Home, ID, City Carrier Sylvia Nixon was delivering mail on her route recently when she spotted a young boy walking through the neighborhood with no shoes on. Nixon sensed that there might be a problem with the situation and approached the boy. When she drew near him, she noticed that he was disoriented and wasn’t where he should have been.

Though Nixon didn’t know it at the time, the boy suffered from a serious medical condition and was miles away from where he was last seen.

Nixon called the local police department to help the boy find his way home and stayed with him until they arrived. The boy was reunited with his family soon thereafter, unharmed, thanks to Nixon’s thoughtful efforts.
