Do you have medications received through the mail or the local pharmacy that have since expired? If so, the Drug Enforcement Administration has an event for you.

The DEA is sponsoring a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this coming Saturday, April 26. The event allows individuals with expired or unwanted drugs the opportunity to dispose of them in a safe, controlled environment. More than 4,100 law enforcement agencies across the nation participated in the previous event in 2013 which took in more than 647,211 pounds of unwanted medication.

Seven previous events have removed a combined total of 3.4 million pounds of prescription medications from circulation. The event also helps to educate the public about the dangers of expired medications and their potential abuse.
