A Fresh New Expansion

A fresh new expansion

Amazon Fresh, Amazon’s food delivery service, is expanding across the border in hopes of extending its reach. The service delivers items from supermarkets and local restaurants to customers within a specific geographic region. Amazon Fresh is still in its test phase of operation, but the announcement that it will begin expanding into the United Kingdom beginning with Germany speaks volumes about the potential success it’s experiencing in the United States.

In addition to food items, Amazon can also bundle deliveries with other items ordered from its website, saving the customer money on delivery. With Amazon Fresh, a customer can order a complete meal and a movie on DVD, and schedule them for delivery on a Friday night. A person could also order a collection of groceries from a local store to be delivered in the same manner and avoid having to deviate from driving directly home after a hard day at work.

While it may be a number of years before Amazon’s delivery reach is as wide as its website customer base, its expanding delivery network could eventually lend itself to a robust package distribution service.
