Postal Employee Assists in a Unique Delivery

Postal employee assists in unique delivery

Many postal employees remember a special delivery that changed someone’s life. Some postal employees encounter a unique situation where they perform a heroic act to save a life. Alaska District Operations Support Specialist Joshua Phillips assisted in a unique delivery that did both.

Joshua and Sarah Phillips were enjoying a Saturday morning at home when the unexpected happened. Sarah went into a rapid precipitous labor.  With no medical training beyond basic first aid, Joshua sprang into action and called 911. He delivered his son with assistance from the dispatch operator over the phone within two minutes. Medical personnel arrived moments later.

Joshua’s postal career has taught him to expect the unexpected, but he describes this event as the greatest delivery of his lifetime. “Nothing I do at work can compare with the joy of being a father,” he said.
