Many businesses offer free wireless access to the Internet for customer convenience. While that access might be a tempting consideration, free can sometimes come with a costly price.
Unscrupulous individuals often mine unsecured networks looking for personal data from unsuspecting Internet surfers. Whenever someone accesses sensitive material such as credit card numbers, bank account data, or USPS information through one of these networks, it can also be intercepted by a nefarious individual.
To prevent important data from falling into the wrong hands, always limit Internet use on unsecured networks to non-sensitive information.

/ June 24, 2013I use free wi-fi at fast food restaurants and other places, but only to access last nights lotto numbers, today’s movie times, and other general stuff. I avoid anything that makes me log in. Who knows where that information might go.
