Taking Old Medications Out of Circulation

Taking old medications

Do you have medications received through the mail or the local pharmacy that have since expired? If so, the Drug Enforcement Administration has an event for you.

Tomorrow, April 27, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., the DEA is hosting a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The event encourages those with expired medications to drop them off at a designated collection facility for safe and secure disposal.

Five previous events have removed a total of 2 million pounds of prescription medications from circulation. The event also hopes to educate the public about the dangers of expired medications and their potential abuse.

Do you think this program will help reduce the abuse of prescription medications?

Perhaps these type of news items could be sent earlier in the week? This was sent at 7:19 pm the night before the event. Most of us didn’t see this until Monday morning, April 29.
