USPS wins international business from competition

USPS victory
When opportunity knocks, answering the door can lead to big rewards. That’s the experience Mailing Requirements Clerk Nancy Nordquist encountered when she identified a potential source of new revenue.
Norquist came across Katinkas, a German-based business with a subsidiary in Salt Lake City, UT, that sells mobile phone covers and leather cases. They were looking for a way to ship their products to customers from their Utah location and already had 3,000 orders to fill.  The company had recently met with UPS and FedEx to discuss their shipping solutions, so time was of the essence to attract this prospective client.
Nordquist quickly submitted the lead, effectively handing the baton to Business Solutions Specialist Karen Schultz. Schultz picked up the lead and contacted Katinkas CEO Karen Baker. During their conversation, Schultz learned more about Katinkas’ needs and identified First-Class Parcels Commercial Base pricing as an effective solution. She then had a 90-day free trial set up on for Katinkas the next day. Schultz also discussed pickup arrangements with Cottonwood Post Office Manager Mike Maxfield and Collections Supervisor Lori Sugar to ensure prompt collections.
Baker was impressed with the quick actions by the USPS team to meet her needs and committed to shipping all packages up to 13 ounces with the Postal Service.
