No Pay Leads to Glum Holiday

No pay

Many holidays are celebrated around the world, and there are usually a variety of presents offered during these festive times to surprise friends and family. However, for one group of postal employees, holiday pay has yet to arrive in mailboxes to buy those presents.

Like most postal organizations around the world, Jamaica Post is in a cash crunch as revenues continue to decline. Unlike most others though, Jamaica Post has refrained from paying their employees for the work they performed in December 2012.

The organization currently doesn’t have enough money in its coffers to pay its employees, and there is no word on when paychecks will be issued.

Do you think this is likely to be a growing issue with other Post Offices around the world as their budgets continue to tighten?

If what we’ve been told is correct, USPS is due to run out of money in October.

That’s what I heard. I don’t know about other folks, but i can’t afford to work for free. If we could get congress to work with us a little bit, maybe we could avoid that. I think it will take going over the USPS fiscal cliff to get them to act.
