2013 Postal Rate Changes

Postal rate changes

Now that a brand new year has been officially unwrapped, it’s a good time to go over a few postage rate changes coming up on January 27. Increases are based on the Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period prior to the announcement of the proposed changes (2.6 percent for the most recent period).

– 1 oz domestic letters = 46 cents

– 1 oz international letters = $1.10 (Global Forever Stamp)

– Postcards = 33 cents

– Priority Mail Flat Rate:

– Small box = $5.80

– Medium box = $12.35

– Large box = $16.85

– Large APO/FPO box = $14.85

– Regular envelope = $5.60

– Legal and Padded envelope    = $5.95

– Critical Mail letters and flats will have the option of receiving a signature upon delivery

– Free tracking on all competitive packages

    My grocery bill has been going up like crazy over the past few years, so I’m sure where the gov comes up with those CPI numbers. I’m only glad it’s keeping stamp prices low.
